Easing Of Mideast Turmoil Could Pressure Gold Prices Next Week

 

(Kitco News) - If the situation in Libya can be resolved next week and unrest does not spread, gold and silver prices will likely fall after rising recently on Middle East uncertainty.

 

However, if a peaceful end is not reached or if other countries see rioting, then precious metals prices will rise once more.

 

 

.. The precious metals markets have digested most of the turbulence at current price levels. If tensions continue to ease and remain contained, traders who bought metals on the beginning of the unrest will likely liquidate positions. That could mean weakness next week for prices.

 

“We don’t predict geo-political outcomes, but if the violence doesn’t spread in the near-term we could see profit-taking in gold,”

 

 

Seasonally, Epstein said both gold and silver are going into a weaker period. He noted that the market research firm Moore Research, which tracks price trends, noted in the last 15 years, gold prices from March 1-24 fell an average of $10 an ounce. Silver prices from the end of February to early April fell 13 out of the last 15 years.

 

..Brazil’s central bank meets on Wednesday and could be forced to raise interest rates as they try to tame inflation there. If Brazil does raise rates, other emerging markets, especially in Asia could “demonstrate greater willingness to raise rates and tighten monetary conditions. The fact that China is also tightening monetary policy, or perhaps fairer, reducing accommodation, will encourage others in the region to continue to do so[/color

 

Rising interest rates can pressure gold prices, especially if countries try to rein in inflation, analysts have said.

Watching Gold Price Action Closely

 

Gold gave us a few good entries since early February; from February 3rd through today gold has run almost $100 higher! Silver has even outperformed, extending to new highs. Both precious metals, however, have begun to pull off a bit. After such big runs, a little bit of rest should not be a surprise.

 

If gold can hold above $1390ish, or $136 in the SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD), it should be on alert to get above the highs of last year. I’m in a small position here using $136 as a stop. If it trades above $138.20 I will look to add and then see what type of velocity it has to get through last year’s high of $139.54.

We've learned from well-known metals analyst and commentator Roger Wiegand, in an e-mail to silver analyst David Morgan which was subsequently published in Morgan's latest Silver Investor newsletter available only to subscribers, that several of Wiegand's high level inside sources have reported that the puppeteers behind the U.S. government, in order to facilitate a move into a new world currency are considering, or may have already begun moving forward with, a plan to confiscate gold and silver from the American public.

 

There is a plan to use the IMF (AKA U.S. Treasury and Wall Street) to be the front man for the new world order and one currency.We also got disturbing news yesterday from an impeccable source that when gold touches $2,000 it's confiscated in the USA for about $200. Then it's to be reissued by the Treasury for $10,000 per ounce to back the new IMF world currency using SDRS in 2011. Large physical gold is being moved to Canada.
