นายกรัฐมนตรีมาริอาโน ราฮอยของสเปน เปิดเผยว่าตนกำลังหารือกับบรรดาผู้นำยุโรปถึงวิธีการฟื้นฟูภาคธนาคารของประเทศ โดยรมว.คลังของกลุ่มยูโรโซนวางแผนที่จะจัดการประชุมทางโทรศัพท์ในช่วงสุดสัปดาห์นี้ เพื่อหารือเรื่องการให้ความช่วยเหลือ

 

นายกฯสเปนกล่าวเมื่อช่วงค่ำวานนี้ว่า ตนได้พูดคุยกับผู้นำประเทศในสหภาพยุโรป พร้อมเผยว่า รัฐบาลจะหาวิธีการระดมทุนสำหรับภาคธนาคาร เมื่อได้รับรายงานการประเมินจากที่ปรึกษาต่างประเทศเกี่ยวกับความต้องการเงินทุนของภาคธนาคารสเปนแล้ว

 

ทั้งนี้ นายราฮอยกล่าวถึงเรื่องดังกล่าวก่อนหน้าที่ฟิทช์ เรทติ้งส์ จะลดอันดับความน่าเชื่อถือสเปนลง 3 ขั้น สู่ระดับ BBB ได้ไม่นาน

ธนาคารกลางเยอรมนีปรับเพิ่มคาดการณ์การขยายตัวทางเศรษฐกิจของประเทศประจำปีนี้เป็น 1% จากระดับ 0.6% ในการคาดการณ์เมื่อเดือนธ.ค. โดยอ้างถึงการขยายตัวทั่วโลกและความต้องการภายในประเทศที่ได้รับปัจจัยหนุนจากตลาดแรงงานที่สดใส

 

อย่างไรก็ตาม ธนาคารกลางเยอรมนีคาดการณ์ว่า เศรษฐกิจเยอรมนีอาจจะขยายตัวขึ้น 1.6% ในปีหน้า ซึ่งต่ำกว่าการคาดการณ์ก่อนหน้านี้เล็กน้อยที่ 1.8%

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — U.S. stock market futures fell on Friday, as investors lost enthusiasm over China’s interest-rate cut on worries of what the move indicted about the direction of the global economy.

 

“Rather than boost confidence that the economic moderation in China can be reversed, the [People’s Bank of China] interest-rate cut yesterday instead reinforced why it happened to begin with, the slowdown is beginning to hurt,” emailed Peter Boockvar, equity strategist at Miller Tabak.

 

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJU2 -0.40%   fell 55 points to 12,351. S&P 500 futures SPU2 -0.40%   dropped 5.5 points to 1,304.50, while

Nasdaq-100 futures NDU2 -0.47%   shed 8.5 points to 2,522.

 

 

Wall Street gave up the bulk of Thursday’s gains by the close, after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke left the central bank’s options open on monetary stimulus. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index SPX -0.01%  halted a three-session win streak, finishing slightly lower at 1,314.99.

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The U.S. trade deficit narrowed by a seasonally-adjusted 4.9% in April to $50.1 billion, the Commerce Department said Friday. The trade deficit was above the consensus forecast of Wall Street economists of a deficit of $48.0 billion. The report included annual benchmark revisions which shifted the level of the deficit in March up to $52.6 billion from the prior estimate of $51.8 billion. Both imports and exports declined in April after hitting record highs in the prior month. The U.S. trade deficit with China widened to $24.6 billion in April compared with $21.6 billion in the same month last year. The country specific trade data is not seasonally adjusted.

A positive value shows trade surplus, while a negative value shows trade deficit. It is an event that generates some volatility for the USD. If a steady demand in exchange for US exports is seen, that would turn into a positive growth in the trade balance, and that should be positive for the USD.
